The French writer Anais Nin said it best, "We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are.
Our perceptions of reality are distinctly our own. Understanding how we cultivate these perceptions and how others do the same is more determinative of our sense of success or failure and happiness or sadness than perhaps all of our other efforts combined.

ABOUT THE BOOK
We think we know what is going on out there in the world and we think others are seeing what we see. Nothing could be further from the truth. We don’t observe and experience the world. We observe and experience the world as we expect it to be. It is our expectations that lead us to judge a choice smart, an accomplishment meaningful, a connection trustworthy, and a life well-lived.
In At War With Myself: How I Came To Terms With The One Thing That Changes Everything, Greg Lewin shares the personal journey that led him to discover that the way we see ourselves and the way others see us is also a matter of expectations.
